Lauren & Bucky

My lovely friend, since I was in 1st grade, is getting engaged to the love of her live and I had the honor of taking their engagement photos. It was a cold evening when we shot so I warmed up the images a bit.

Fall Raindrops

The other day I was sitting inside talking on the phone and I looked outside and saw our pink flamingos buried in a pile of wet leaves. Inspiration. I hung up and the picture taking began. Oh how I love my portrait lens and its short depth of field. Oh how I love fall and the smell of fresh rain. Oh how I love thinking that it's snowing in Tahoe. I can't wait to try out my new goPro.

Blue-Eyed Friends

I got to play with my 'butter' lens the other afternoon with my beautiful blue eyed friends. I love how this 1:4 50mm lens lets me have less then an inch of clarity in the focal length. As usual I didn't edit the images much, just a little cropping. It is amazing how much adjusting the part that you crop changes the image. I need to learn what looks best and where to crop an image to get the most impact. The whole leading lines and rule of thirds just seems so elementary.

abstract fire dancer

A few years ago I was a camp counselor for an outdoor science camp for 5th graders. Since I haven't been taking as many pics I decided to play with some old ones.

speak no evil hear no evil see no evil

While waiting for a shuttle bus, I wandered off to make a phone call. When I came back to the bus stop I noticed the beautiful lighting and used auto timer to take this picture.

Creepy Carnival at night

On my way home from work one night I noticed the flashing lights of a Ferris Wheel as I exited the freeway. A few blocks from my house, the town was having a carnival. Initially I was going to climb a nearby hill to snap some aerial shots, but as I got closer, I got sucked right in. I didn't have my tripod so I layed on the ground and used the curb and temporarily kidnapped an orange construction cone.

The place was eerie. When I explore in the dark(which I do too often than I should) my mind goes wild! I imagine freaky things that could happen and think of what could be hiding in the shadows. I was all alone until some kids on bikes pulled up. At first I thought they were carnies, then I thought they were a high school couple. I yelled out into the darkness "will you come model for me?"..... and they did. I wanted to get a shot of them holding hands staring straight into the camera.... but that didn't work out. The 3rd image is what I came up with. It gives me nightmares.

I was laying in the road and almost got run over to get this one

taking pictures and suddenly this ride starts to move... oh carnies and their creepiness

"take my flashlight and look creepy or sad"- captured!

I don't know how this image was made but I think it has to do with how dirty my light sensor is. Oh well! I think it looks awesome!

An Ending Day with New Beginnings

wow I have missed my camera! Went and had a wonderful random adventure day in San Fransisco the other day and witnessed a spectacular sunset. When I got the in-camera setting right a part of me cried with excitement.

I also had my muses with me. Lindsay and Chris instantly brought me inspiration. Their love for one another is so easy to see on film and in every dimple that appears on their faces when they look at each other. I thank them for this, and for putting up with me running around stalking them and the sun like a lunatic as I am trying to capture light, laughter and living each moment to the fullest.

Fail

I haven't posted pictures in over a year.... FAIL! This is what happens when corporate America takes over your life. It's sad to think that the only reason I got this job was to fund my photography. I must make the time to do what I love. See you soon!
