Dark in the Light- Nina

Last night my friend Nina and I got to talking about doing a photo-shoot that was more dark and edgy than all the bo-ho frolicking in a field pictures you see these days. While we were going through fashion magazines getting inspiration we struck out.... It is surprising how hard it was to find dark emotional images. After looking through these magazines for a while we decided to just start taking pictures. I am still getting used to my 'new' camera and having a 'muse' allowed me to practice in very low light setting. The shoot started with holiday ambiance and ended in tears on the bathroom floor.... literally.. that is where we ended up taking most of the pictures (shhh....no one has to know) I only had my 50mm and we were in a pretty small space so I was forced to practice with all my manual settings. My New Years resolution is to spend more time on my photography, learning about my camera, lighting techniques, styling etc. I am so used to capturing the raw moments and must work to be confident on the posing and styling piece. Editing will be 2015 ;) I need to build my confidence so if you know anyone who wants to play and have their pictures taken let me know. Anyway... here is the Ninch(aka Nina)

Wilkes Wedding

This weekend was a wedding blitz! Not only was I a bridesmaid but I also officiated my first wedding ever! Who knew it only takes 5 minutes and an internet connection to get ordained? Writing vows was no easy task, thankfully after interviewing friends and family members I found many consistencies on how people looking in viewed the couple to be. Francisca and Bobby are a blast to be around...I had too much fun and was able to take a few pictures while I was at it.

Artie & Betsy- Hindu Wedding

This was the first of three weddings for Artie and Betsy. Although the colors were splendid I can't help but change some to black and white.

Off-Roading, Guns, Love and Man's Best Friend

For this shoot we traveled to a place where Bobby grew up..and we traveled in style...and sideways... in a Jeep. Francisca and Bobby are adventurers and spend quite a bit of times outdoors, camping, shooting guns and getting dirty. I'm glad we were able to incorporate all this into the engagement session. There were times where I felt I was snapping shots for a Jeep commercial.
